Transparent Tuesday: Starting Fresh and Building My Business from the Ground Up in a New Country

I’m often asked how I started my business after moving to a new country. To say it was difficult would be an understatement. . .

Leaving behind 20 years of professional relationships—many built during my university days—and a full Rolodex of trusted contacts to start fresh was a challenge beyond words. It wasn’t just a professional hurdle; it was an emotional one that led to a major identity crisis midway through my career. Still, with over 17 years of experience behind me, I’ve learned how to adapt and grow in the face of change.

Even though I was headhunted and offered several recruitment opportunities, I knew deep down that I couldn’t let go of my own vision. Choosing myself and persevering became non-negotiable.

The truth is, I couldn’t have done this alone. I was fortunate to find an incredible opportunity through Business Networking International (BNI), one of the leading global networking organizations. Joining my chapter helped me establish my business in under six months.

I’m deeply grateful for the referral partners I’ve gained and the friendships I’ve built—connections I’ll cherish forever.

Here’s to continued growth, year after year.

Keep going—everything comes to you at the perfect time.

Thinking of starting fresh in a new place or industry? You’re not alone!

Surround yourself with the right people, trust your vision, and take the leap. 💪✨
